Cuddle Up To Hotels With Fine In-Room Fireplaces

A fireplace provides a certain undeniable comfort, and luxury hotels across the country understand that curling up by a warm fire — whether it’s crackling logs or glowing gas flames — can enhance your stay, no matter what the temperature is outside. From Boston to L.A., here are some of our favorite hotels with fireplace-equipped guest rooms:

Twin Farms

Barnard, Vt.

Nestled within 300 acres of forest, Five-Star Twin Farms’ 10 cottages epitomize secluded luxury. On a particularly private spot, the resort’s Log Cabin blends a modern vibe with the rustic undertones of its Appalachian birthplace (Twin Farms’ founder had the authentic homestead shipped to his property). A towering, river-rock fireplace sits invitingly along the white and timber-striped walls, providing a warm gathering place — in case the weather is slightly too inclement for the rope hammock hanging in the cabin’s enclosed porch. Elsewhere on the property, the contemporary Aviary cottage sets a decidedly more Zen tone with a fieldstone fireplace crackling in front of a natural-stone hot tub and floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Little Nell

Aspen, Colo.

Whether you’ve spent your day carving powder or simply soaking up the Aspen lifestyle, you can count on returning to a glowing fireplace at Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Little Nell. Each and every guest room and suite — from the Mountainside Rooms, with their titular views, to the Paepcke Suite draped in soft, mountain colors and tapestries — has a fireplace perfect for gathering around and unwinding or entertaining guests.

Hotel Bel-Air

Los Angeles

It doesn’t always take a secluded forest and chilly weather to set the stage for a beautiful fireplace. As Hotel Bel-Air proves, the sunny climate of Los Angeles can be just as fitting. The fireplace in the Premier Canyon Suite at the California hotel isn’t technically in-room, but we don’t think you’ll complain when you see the glass-encased line of flames on your private outdoor patio. Palm trees on the horizon, along with the area’s sweeping hills, blend well with the almost futuristic atmosphere the fireplace creates as it burns away next to the shimmering pool and patio lounge.

Stein Eriksen Lodge

Park City, Utah

Nothing closes out a snowy ski session like kicking back by a glowing fireplace. If Park City is on your ski-season destination list, a luxury suite at the Five-Star Stein Eriksen Lodge certainly will fulfill that cozy dream. Each of the spacious (1,200- to 4,900-square-foot) suites is unique in its design and features a stone-set fireplace complemented by leather furniture and flat-screen TVs hanging above. But who needs TV when the view outside your suite is as stunning as the rolling mountains of Deer Valley?

XV Beacon

Boston

This Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star boutique hotel in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood offers up exceptional class at nearly every turn: four-poster beds, 400-thread-count Frette linens, Italian marble bathrooms and more. But what really brings everything together on those frigid New England nights is the gas fireplace in each of the 63 guest rooms at XV Beacon. The understated yet cozy fireplace blends right in with the hotel’s mix of antique-style furniture and modern appliances; each blazing fire is nestled in a brushed stainless-steel fireplace surround.
